What On Earth
a new short film!
I had a new short film premiere on Nowness yesterday called What On Earth.
The title came to me while I was living in Houston and my wife was being treated at MD Anderson. I didn’t have a story attached to the title at the time, I just felt those words captured exactly how I was feeling and I was desperate to communicate some sense of how crazy I felt living was.
I wrote the film in the months after losing my wife and mom, right as the world was opening back up after Covid. I felt completely ill-equipped to end my isolation and rejoin the rest of society. I had been in isolation and had only experienced the world through my phone watching other people live their lives who all seemed to be thriving way more than I could possibly imagine. I had never felt so strongly that everyone on earth was much better at life than me in every single way possible. And so this character Zizi came to me and eventually Suzanna Son brought her to wild, unhinged life. I’m so proud of this whole team and this short film. Cruise through the link in my bio or stories!
